The implementation of GIS technologies within the "Atlas of Egyptian Cities" has had a transformative impact on urban planning and sustainable development initiatives in Egypt.
The "Atlas of Egyptian Cities " was launched during the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, Egypt, in a major press conference.
“The Atlas of Egyptian Cities is an essential tool to guide efforts to confront climate change and enhance the resilience of Egyptian cities to adapt to environmental risks, as well as support sustainability-conscious urban planning for a better future, and the Minister of Local Development said that everything starts locally, stressing that Egypt adopts urban planning that takes into account the principles of sustainability, flexibility and participation”
